The Department of Rural and Community Development has been working with an Advisory Group to produce Ireland's first National Volunteering Strategy. A Draft National Volunteering Strategy is now open for consultation. Please share this important update with relevant people in your group.

All community and voluntary organisations involve volunteers in some way, either as the doers and or board members/trustees. It is therefore important that you take the opportunity to review and input into the development of the draft National Volunteer Strategy.

The closing date for submissions to the Department is Friday, 31 January 2020. You can send your submission by email to: volunteer@drcd.gov.ie or by post to: Community and Voluntary Supports and Programmes Unit, Department of Rural and Community Development, Trinity Point, 10-11 Leinster Street South, Dublin 2, D02 EF85.

Westmeath PPN will be making a submission to shape the Draft Strategy further, and if you do not wish to make your own/group submission to the consultation, please let me invite you to send any observations directly to me to shape WPPN’s formal submission. Please forward any observations you may have to by Monday, 27 January 2020.

With best wishes,
