2020 Expression of Interest Form for potential capital projects in your community.

BACKGROUND

Westmeath County Council would like to invite all community groups to complete this Expression of Interest form in order to develop projects for applications under the

funding schemes listed here.

 

CLÁR, Town & Village Renewal Scheme & Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure

CLÁR Programme

The CLÁR funding scheme is a targeted investment programme for rural areas that aims to provide funding for small infrastructural projects in areas that experience disadvantage.  Approx. 30% of Westmeath is designated as CLÁR areas and are indicated on attached (link).  Grants available include:

Measure 1 – Support for School/ Community Safety Measures.  Grant aid up to €50,000 available covering pedestrian crossings, signage, footpaths, car parking, road marking, etc

Measure 2 – School/ Community Play Areas (incl. MUGA’s) – Grant aid up €50,000 available for new or upgrading of existing play areas.

Measure 3 a) First Response Support – Grant aid up to €50,000 available for replacement or upgrading of vehicle or equipment to voluntary groups involved in emergency rescue/ first response efforts. 

Measure 3 b) Mobility and Cancer Care Transport – Grant aid up to €100,000 available to voluntary groups involved in provision of transport services for persons requiring cancer care treatment.

Measure 3 c) Sensory Gardens – Grant aid up to €60,000 available to community groups or schools towards specialist sensory garden projects.

 

Town and Village Renewal Scheme

The primary aim of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme is to support the revitalisation of towns and villages in order to improve the living and working environment of their communities and increase their potential to support increased economic activity into the future.  The scheme applies to all towns and villages in Westmeath apart from Athlone and Mullingar.  Projects could involve increasing the attractiveness of the town or village as a commercial and social centre, enhance the town/ village environment and amenities, promote the town / village’s potential for tourism and as a centre for culture and local heritage.  Grant aid of up to €200,000 could be available under this scheme.

 

Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure

The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme is part of the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development and will provide funding for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure or the necessary maintenance, enhancement or promotion of existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas across Ireland.  Grants Available include:

 

Measure 1:   Small Scale Maintenance/Promotional and Marketing

Projects to include grant aid amounts of up to €20,000.

 

Measure 2:   Medium Scale Repair/Upgrade and New Trail Development

Grant amounts of up to €200,000.

 

Measure 3:   Large Scale Repair/Upgrade and New Strategic Trail Development

Grant amounts of over €500,000.
